Madonna, 65, hits the stage to perform historic FREE concert for thousands of fans in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – marking epic final stop on her Celebration Tour
Madonna dressed to impress as she took to the stage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for her final Celebration Tour stop at Copacabana Beach in Brazil on Saturday.
The Vogue songstress, 65 -who recently put on a sultry display during rehearsals ahead of the anticipated performance – labeled the historic, final tour stop as ‘her biggest show yet,’ according to the official website.
The show was notably ‘free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour.’
One of the outfits during the big night comprised of a long-sleeved, flowy black gown that was fitted around the bodice area.
Shiny fabric with embellishments draped down from the sleeves and connected in front for a dramatic flare.
Her locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves.
A large, silver head piece was placed on top of her head, and was adorned with crystals that sparkled underneath the bright stage lights.
For a finishing touch to the overall look, she opted for a pair of fingerless, black lace gloves.
Madonna’s makeup was glammed up, and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as smoky, shimmering shadow around her eyes.
A pink blush and warm contour was added to better accentuate her cheekbones, while a satin, dark rosy tint was worn on her lips.
Later during the anticipated concert, the Frozen hitmaker opted for a fitted, semi-sheer corset top that was made of a black, lace material.
She additionally donned a colorful, plaid miniskirt as well as a pair of black, fishnet tights and heeled ankle boots.
The Queen of Pop – whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone – layered the look with a black-patterned jacket that was left unfastened at the front to better show off the outfit.
During a portion of the set, Madonna was joined by her backup dancers who also donned stylish ensembles.
The singer had an additional outfit change while wearing a red satin minidress that had black, lace material on the neckline and hem.
She slipped into a pair of over-the-knee, black boots that were secured with lace details on the front.
The star sported a different hairstyle that comprised of blonde locks that were parted to the side, and fell down in voluminous curls.
Madonna was once again joined by her backup dancers as she performed some of her hit tracks for the large crowd.
At one point, the star was joined by fellow music artist, Anitta, on the stage and the pair were spotted exchanging a sweet embrace.
The Envolver hitmaker – who was born in Brazil – sported an all-black ensemble as well as a pair of sheer, black socks and chic heels.
Madonna also opted for an eye-catching, neon green minidress which she paired with opera-length, blue gloves with rhinestone details.
Madonna was also seen with Brazilian singer, Pabllo Vittar, and the two held Brazilian flags in their hands during the performance.
Before the Take A Bow singer took to the stage, Diplo was seen performing a set in front of the large crowd.
The DJ sported a black tank top that had white embellishments throughout the fabric. The music artist also added a gold-chained necklaces to accessorize the casual look and easily held a microphone in his hand.
The audience could be seen gathered outdoors shortly after the sun had set ahead of the festivities.
Hosted at Belmond Copacabana Palace Hotel, the concert was broadcasted live on TV Globo. Attendees didn’t need tickets, and admission happened on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Marking her first show in Brazil since 2012, Madonna also made her return with Bob the Drag Queen, who has accompanied her throughout the Celebration Tour.
The artist was also seen taking to the stage during the show, and wore a pink ballgown while dressed as Marie Antoinette.
The outfit was possibly in reference to Madonna’s iconic performance during the 1990 MTV Awards.
Performing her most beloved hits from her decades-spanning career, Madonna kicked off the tour on October 14 in London.
Madonna previously had to scale back the seven-month tour after she was hospitalized and intubated over a bacterial infection last June.
The Madame X artist later revealed that she was in an induced coma for 48 hours after suffering lung and kidney failure.
During her first Celebration Tour stop in London, Madonna admitted onstage that she ‘didn’t think I’d make it’ during the stint, during which she ‘forgot five days’ of her life.
I didn’t think I would make it, and neither did my doctors,’ she said. ‘That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me.’
‘I forgot five days of my life, or my death, I don’t really know where I was. But the angels were protecting me,’ she continued. ‘And my children were there. And my children always save me, every time.’
Madonna added, ‘If you want to know how I pulled through and how I survived, I thought, I have got to be there for my children. I have to survive for them.’
And during her tour stop in Los Angeles earlier this year in March, the singer further reflected on the ‘near-death’ health scare.
‘This show every night is not really so hard on me physically. It’s hard on me emotionally because I’m really telling you the story of my life,’ she expressed to the live audience in the Kia Forum, per Just Jared.
‘My heart is on my sleeve. I’ve fallen off a lot of horses and broken a lot of bones… but nothing can stop me.’
She also claimed that the first word she said upon awaking from her coma was simply, ‘No!’
‘I’m pretty sure that was God saying to me, “Do you want to come? Want to come up with me?”‘ and she replied with, ‘No!’
She also credited her children to aiding her in her recovery. She is notably mother to Lourdes Leon, 27, Rocco Ritchie, 23, David Banda and Mercy James, 18, and also twins Stella and Estere, 11.
‘My children are what really helped me pull through because they worked so hard. I didn’t want to let them down, so I just set a date. And that date became reality.’
Madonna’s four youngest children have notably also joined her on stage amidst the Celebration Tour.
While talking to W Magazine last month in April, the singer opened up about sharing the experience with her kids. ‘When I go on tour, nothing brings me more happiness than to know we are all working on the same show, creating the magic together.’
‘It would be boring if they were just traveling from hotel to hotel, and occasionally coming to watch the show.’
‘Of course, I am their mother so sometimes we get on each other’s nerves. We are a family of artists but we are also a family, and that’s what happens,’ the Frozen songstress added.
Health scares aside, Madonna has also been met with lawsuits from fans during the Celebration Tour, after her NYC shows started two hours late.
The star’s legal team and Live Nation responded to the lawsuit in TMZ. ‘Madonna just completed and sold out her 2023 Celebration Tour in Europe – which received rave reviews,’ they said.
‘The shows opened in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn as planned, with the exception of a technical issue December 13th during soundcheck.’
‘This caused a delay that was well documented in press reports at the time. We intend to defend this case vigorously,’ they added.
Later in the night, Anitta took to her main Instagram page to better show off her look that she wore while appearing on stage with Madonna.
She struck a pose inside an elevator wearing a fitted, black corset-styled minidress as well as sheer, elbow-length gloves.
The Brazilian singer accessorized the ensemble with a necklace that had a large, cross-shaped pendant on the front.
She also included a short clip of herself inside what appeared to be a hotel room as she excitedly sang one of Madonna’s songs, La Isla Bonita. She could be seen holding a smile on her face while also flaunting a few small dance moves.
In the caption of her latest post, Anitta penned to her fans and followers, ‘Ready for the queen,’ followed by a crown emoji and the hashtag, ‘#MadonnaCelebrationTour.’
