Britney Spears is speaking out against the people saying she “deserved to be hit” in a video she released this week on Instagram following the incident that saw her get smacked by NBA player Victor Wembanyama’s security.

Last week, a security guard for the San Antonio Spurs allegedly slapped her as she went to tap Wembanyama from behind for a photo at a Las Vegas restaurant. She filed a police report alleging battery, but the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police ultimately decided not to press charges against the security guard. The proceeding video showed it was a clear accident.

Spears video touched on a radio station that had been “talking shhh” and saying she “deserved to be smacked” when she tried to approach the No. 1 overall pick at Aria Resort & Casino in Sin City.

“I’ve been with the most famous people in the world — NSYNC at one time,” Spears said. “Girls would like literally throw themselves at them. On my way into the place, actually, I was knocked down by like three 12-year-olds trying to get my picture. My security, not one time touched them or even came near them.

“Point being, I didn’t appreciate the people saying that I deserved to be hit, because no woman ever deserves to be hit.”

Spears added she received an apology at her table “30 minutes later” but has yet to receive one publicly.

In the meantime, Victor Wembanyama has been granted some rest after two Summer League games in Las Vegas. The 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick has been shut down for the remainder of the Summer League after playing two games over the weekend.

The 19-year-old French phenom played his first game in a Spurs uniform Friday but scored only nine points. He wowed with 27 points with 12 rebounds in his second effort, an 85-80 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Wemby is fresh off playing in 48 games in France so the decision to shut him down for rest is a smart one.
