Katy Perry shared how welcoming her and Orlando Bloom’s daughter Daisy Dove created the perfect atmosphere for writing new music in an exclusive interview with E! News.

The love of her daughter Daisy Dove has Katy Perry flying high.

As the “Teenage Dream” singer closes one chapter of her career—Katy is currently wrapping up her final season as a judge on American Idol—she’s been teasing a new era of music. And as it turns out, her and Orlando Bloom‘s 3-year-old daughter has played a huge part in Katy’s creative process.

“What she has given me in my life [is] the unconditional love that I was always searching for,” Katy gushed of Daisy in an exclusive interview with E! News following the April 15 episode. “Yes, that is where I am creating from. Just like wholeness, happiness and just true full love.”

And as for what Katy’s post-Idol era might include? The 39-year-old is playing coy.

“You know I’m not taking a vacation after this,” she joked, “so you better just stay ready.”

Since welcoming Daisy with her fiancé in August 2020, Katy’s daughter has already played a part in her musical career. In fact, the toddler made her first public appearance at one of Katy’s Las Vegas residency shows in November.

“Daisy, I love you so much,” the Grammy nominee said onstage, as seen in footage posted to social media. “You’re my best friend. I’m so glad you’re here.”

In a separate video shared from the November 4 show, Katy detailed the ways in which Daisy’s arrival made her concert series possible.

As the pop superstar explained, “I created this show after the birth of my daughter, Daisy Dove. When I met her, it was like all the love I was ever searching for finally showed up. She made me whole, and she healed me, and she showed me how to play again. So, this show is for everyone’s inner child and for the hope that maybe if we could all see life through the eyes of a child, we would be free.”

And of course, Katy reserved a special shoutout for Orlando, to whom she got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

“To my partner Orlando,” she said in the video, “for being an incredible support system and an amazing father—I love you.”
