Megan Thee Stallion reflects on going independent and signing ’empowering’ deals with Nike and Netflix: ‘I’m definitely coming with some things for thee hotties!’

February 2 was a life and career-changing day for Megan Thee Stallion, who signed a groundbreaking distribution deal with Warner Music Group allowing her to remain independent and retain her masters and publishing.

‘It feels so great. It feels so empowering,’ the 29-year-old hip-hop star gushed in her Adweek cover story Thursday.

‘I hope that a lot of artists see [that] it doesn’t matter how many nos, how many obstacles, how many terrible experiences that you may have in this [business] – you shouldn’t give up. Because there is a light on the other side. It doesn’t matter how you get there, as long as you take the journey, and you don’t quit. Because if I would’ve quit, I would’ve never made it here.’

Megan was previously at war with her prior record label 1501 Certified Entertainment before founding her very own independent company, Hot Girl Productions, in November.

‘I’m definitely coming with some things for thee hotties,’ Stallion (born Megan Pete) shared.

‘[They] are gonna like it, because nobody could tell me no. Nobody had any input. Nobody could tell me what to do!’

The three-time Grammy winner has since inked brand deals with Planet Fitness and Nike, which allowed her to have ‘so much creative input.’

‘I just felt really good, because I knew exactly what colors I wanted. I knew exactly what the vibe was,’ Megan said of Nike.

‘When I work out, I like to feel sexy. I like to feel confident. I like to feel like a little superhero. I like to feel snatched! The better you feel in your gym clothes, the harder you want to go. It keeps you motivated to keep coming back, because you want to see yourself look as good as you feel. With my collection, when I put it on, and hopefully when thee hotties put it on, they see themselves looking good, and it just pushes them to further their fitness goals.’

Now that the SAG/WGA strikes have ceased, Stallion can get back to developing ‘a few shows’ for Netflix: ‘I just had a lot of meetings with some good production companies.’

One such project – a Safdie Brothers film about baseball memorabilia starring the Hiss hitmaker and Adam Sandler – is ‘on pause’ due to the directors going their separate ways Benny Safdie informed Variety on January 4.

Megan said she would also love to partner with a swimwear brand and appear in a video game since she’s an avid gamer.

‘I love Grand Theft Auto. I definitely want to be in [that game]. I definitely want to be in the Rockstar Universe,’ Stallion said.
