Nicki Minaj said Latto looks older than she really is…Latto mentioned her connections to men who have been convicted of sexual assault…it was just a mess.

If you woke up this morning and noticed Nicki Minaj and Latto trending on Twitter, it’s because they got into a huge argument last night.

It all started when it was reported that Nicki Minaj’s song “Super Freaky Girl” would be nominated in pop categories at the 2023 Grammy Awards instead of in rap.

Nicki vented about the move on Instagram Live, mentioning that if her song isn’t considered rap, then songs like Latto’s “Big Energy” shouldn’t be either.

FYI, Latto is a hip-hop artist who gained fame from appearing on the reality series The Rap Game and has since been nominated for an American Music Award for New Artist of the Year and collaborated with Mariah Carey.

“If ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is pop, then so is ‘Big Energy,'” she said. “If you move ‘Super Freaky Girl’ out of rap and put it in pop, do the same with ‘Big Energy.’ Same producers on both songs by the way, if you want to talk about it. So let’s keep shit fair.”

She continued venting on Twitter, posting this tweet reiterating what she said on the Live.

And tweeted this one, after a fan pulled out receipts of Latto actually referring to “Big Energy” as a pop song.

Nicki continued to defend her stance in a follow-up tweet, writing: “Could you imagine someone telling you not to ‘complain’ about being treated unfairly at your workplace? This is my job. I work very hard. No diff from a 9–5 where you should speak up for yourself if you know you’re a great employee & continue to be purposely sabotaged.” But she also encouraged the Barbz not to be “angry” because, well, we all know how that can go.

Anyway, Latto appeared to enter the chat exactly 17 minutes later, when she tweeted: “Damn I can’t win for losing… all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate.”

And basically, all hell broke loose after that.

After they seemingly tried to talk things out offline, Nicki, as XXL notes, came back to Twitter with a screenshot of a message Latto appeared to send her and called her a “Karen” in the caption for not supporting her.

“This Karen has probably mentioned my name in over 100 interviews,” she wrote in the post, which has since been deleted. “Says she waited in line for Pink Friday w|her Barbie chain on, bangs, pink hair…but today, scratch off decides to be silent; rather than speak up for the black woman she called her biggest inspiration. 🫡☺️😘”

Latto then tweeted that her love for Nicki was actually why she tried to talk things out between them outside of the internet. “1st of all I texted u cause I didn’t wanna do the internet sht w sum1 I looked up to. Just like the 1st time I DMed u asking about ur ongoing subtweets. I wanted to speak up cuz like I said I do agree but the way u going about it seems malicious esp. after how we left off.”
