Wemby wasn’t the only star of the marquee NBA matchup

SAN Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has stunned NBA fans again — this time by pulling off a Steph Curry impression.

The 7-foot-4 Frenchman hit an outrageous look-away 3 in Sunday’s double-overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Spurs lost the matchup 133-126.

But Wembanyama, 20, put on a show, logging 33 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks.

While shooting 55% from the field overall, he hit five 3s on 10 attempts along the way, leaving Philadelphia’s bench mesmerized at times.

One of those triples went viral on social media in proof of Wemby’s growing confidence on the NBA hardwood.

With the Spurs leading 53-49 toward the end of the first half, the No. 1 overall pick received a pass outside the 3-point line.

He then quickly launched a triple over the defending Mo Bamba and, knowing the shot would go in, turned away before the ball rattled the net.

Curry, considered to be the greatest shooter in NBA history, has popularized the look-away 3-pointer in recent years while leading the Golden State Warriors to four championships.

But seeing Wembanyama — who’s over a foot shorter than the Warriors star — shoot treys with such confidence, NBA fans marveled at the Spurs rookie’s abilities.

“The turn-away three [is] the coldest thing you can do in hoops by far,” one wrote on X.

“Dude turned before it went in. We cooked cooked,” another added.

“Ball was still in the air and he turned his back. He knew,” a third said.

“Wemby is awesome to watch,” one wrote.

Wembanyama is averaging 21.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game in his rookie season.

But the Spurs are still a work in progress and, after 78 games of the season, sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 19-59 record.

Philadelphia eventually defeated San Antonio on Sunday in big part thanks to a 52-point explosion from Tyrese Maxey.

It was Maxey’s third 50-point game of the 2023-24 campaign.
