AMERICAN Idol has abruptly changed its schedule with mere weeks left until the show’s Season 22 finale.

The finale will also include a farewell to judge Katy Perry, 39, after seven seasons on the panel.

It’s scheduled to air on Sunday, May 19, but according to the American Idol website, there will be fewer episodes than expected until then.

Episodes will only air on Sundays beginning this weekend, eliminating Monday nights from the show’s lineup.

The final Monday episode of the season aired on April 29.

Idol has historically aired episodes multiple nights a week, often stretching their finale to at least two nights.

However, instead, the finale will be a one-night, three-hour event, with the remaining three contestants singing two Disney songs each.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As recently announced, Jon Bon Jovi will mentor the Top 3, and in typical Idol fashion, the winner will be crowned at the end of the episode.

The current Top 7 contestants include Abi Carter, Emmy Russell, Jack Blocker, Julia Gagnon, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Triston Harper, and Will Moseley.

Host Ryan Seacrest, 49, announced last week that the contestants will sing “Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance” and Adele hits during Sunday night’s episode.

It was also revealed that Ciara would serve as a mentor, and Meghan Trainor would hit the stage to perform.

The season finale is expected to be tearful, as Katy will say her goodbyes to Ryan and her fellow judges, Lionel Richie, 74, and Luke Bryan, 47.

During a February appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Katy revealed she planned to leave Idol after this season.

Last week, Ryan opened up about the Fireworks singer’s imminent departure and admitted he doesn’t know who will take her place.

“There are a few people at the top of that short list that could be great,” Ryan told Fox News about Katy’s possible replacement.

“We should make that decision soon, though, I hope.”

As for Katy, the future Wheel of Fortune host said she will be missed.

“[Katy] just brought an amazing generosity and love and big heart, that kind of spirit to the show.

“To whoever comes in, we hope they’ll have that same kind of impact,” Ryan concluded.

Katy has gotten mixed reviews from fans about her performance on the show and previously teased her leaving to focus on her music.

The pop star also said she wanted to spend more time with her 3-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, and fiancé, Orlando Bloom, 47.

Rumors have also circulated that Katy and Orlando are expecting their second child, though neither has addressed the chatter.
