‘I GRADUATED FROM TSU!!’ Megan Thee Stallion’s Surprise Visit Ignites Texas Southern University
In a spirited display at the weekly Hump Day pep rally, Megan Thee Stallion, accompanied by the Ocean of Soul band, joined forces to honor the scholarship recipients and engage in a fireside chat with TSU’s Tracy Clemons.
Live from the campus, KPRC 2′s Moriah Ballard captured the electrifying moments shared between Meg and the students.
The Flamin’ Hot scholarship fund, inaugurated earlier this year to support graduating seniors at TSU, now boasts a distribution of over $150,000, benefiting more than 20 deserving seniors.
Tracy Clemons, Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications, expressed the challenge in orchestrating the surprise amidst the buzzing speculation among students about the guest of honor.
“We’ve been coordinating her visit as part of this partnership for quite some time. With her hectic schedule and global performances, we were overjoyed that our alum carved out time to return home and enrich our students’ lives with this incredible gesture! The gratitude from the students was palpable.”
Isaac Palacio, from the class of 2023 at the School of Communications, shared his elation upon receiving one of the scholarships and offered words of inspiration to his fellow TSU peers.
A significant portion of the scholarship funding stems from the proceeds of the exclusive Flamin’ Hot University merch line, a collaborative effort between fashion designer Melody Ehsani and Megan.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper, Megan Pete, who graduated from TSU in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, saw the university announce the establishment of a scholarship fund in her honor.
Beyond her academic achievements, Megan is renowned for her advocacy in mental health. She launched a website dedicated to mental health resources in September, underscoring her commitment to holistic well-being.
